Where/which in North Florida state parks I can play soccer ?
Q. I am taking my 2 boys to state park, they love to play soccer with me. I am planning on showing them the wildlife/nature and then spend sometime playing soccer with them. Evidently, I dont need a big field; I am wondering if there is any place in state parks which is good enough for 3 people to play soccer without bothering other people. Also, please tell me which park would be best to go to in North Florida.

A. I think any of the state parks would be fine for that. There are usually plenty of open spaces. I'm not sure where you are in the north, but here is a link that might help you in making your decision.

What is the cheapest way to visit the parks ( Disney etc) in Orlando?
Q. I've already booked my accommadaton in Kissemmee, but want to know the cheapest way to visit parks with my son. Any websites that offer discounts?
Asked by carriebradshaw - Fri Sep 18 07:19:38 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. When I visited with my family last year, we looked around online forever trying to find a reliable and discounted ticket company. We actually ended up using OrlandoFunTickets.com. They offered great deals on multiple day tickets and it was perfect for my family. They also had all the other main theme parks...so it made for a much for diverse vacation. Plus we really saved alot. I have also used DWTickets.com as well. Try those. They are reliable and you can even pick up your tickets at their ticket stores, located right near Disney. Or, you can have them even delivered to your hotel in Kissimmee!

Is it possible to do all Disneyworld Orlando parks in one day?
Q. I've really only got one day for disney and am not interested in the kids stuff, would it be possible to get around all parks in one day and go on the good rides? how long does it take to get from park to park?

A. Technically it can be done, but it would be a waste of time and exhausting. You'd spend most of your time rushing to and from the couple of ride you'd actually be able to get on. First off, I don't know what you consider "kid stuff" when many adults still love rides like the Teacups or Toy Story Mania... but I'm going to assume you are looking for the biggies like Rock & Rollercoaster and Expedition Everest... So right there, expect around 40 to 90 minute wait for each these rides on average... it's rarely less, though it might be more if you're going to busy season. And forget using the Fast Pass system, by the time your ticket will come due you'll be on your way to the next park, so you'll have to do the outright wait. To… [cont.]

A. If you want something different than the things in Disneyland, do not go to Magic Kingdom. Trust me those two are so much alike. The other 3 (Epcot, Disney's MGM-Studios, and Animal Kingdom) are awesome (I love disney world)! Other good thrill seeker parks are Busch-Gardens and Islands of Adventure. Obviously, during the week (Mon-Thurs) is a good time to go...but for months, just do process of elimination: January - Don't go at beginning of month, wait until after Winter break February - Fine March - Go before (or after) Spring break April - Fine May - BUSY because of Grad Nite June - BUSY! SUMMER July - BUSY! SUMMER August - BUSY! SUMMER September - Less busy but some schools still have SUMMER October - BUSY for Halloween celebrations… [cont.]

What theme parks can you get free admission on your birthday?
Q. I think Disneyland, but what about California Adventures? Also, what other theme parks can you get in for free on your birthday?

A. disneyland, but say you are going for more than 1 day. than you can buy your tickets for disneyland- so cal has the 99.00 3 day hopper pass right not. but still go to the disney office they have in front of disney not the ticket booth, and they will issue a gift card for the price of a ticket for either a child or adult. bring birth certificate or drivers license. we made the mistake of not bringing my sons b.cert- trip planned just for his b-day(we bought ticket before cause we were going to both places) but he missed out on that extra disney $ that sucked but he still had a blast.

Why does grass grow freely in parks, and sidewalks but I have to spend $100s each year to keep my lawn?
Q. It annoys me that each year I need to water, fertilize, triple mix, over seed, de-weed, etc. and it costs me $100s of dollars a year to just to HAVE grass! I don't want a freakin golf green! But in parks, sidewalks, and other public places, grass isn't taken care of (just mowed) and it grows freely! No fertilizer nothing! WHY?
Asked by blue2monday - Sat Apr 19 15:14:19 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It's probably the type of grass seed that was used in the parks, etc, as compared to the type of grass your lawn is composed of. Try calling the parks dept in your area and ask them what they use, then overseed your lawn with that. Also, you might look for books by Jerry Baker, who is a Master Gardener. He has a lot of tips for improving lawns, without using chemicals.

What are some of the BEST National Parks or other great tourist spots to see in the west?
Q. I'm taking a cross country trip for a month. I plan on all the big parks but was wondering if anyone knows of some real "can't miss" places. I'm interested in Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, Montana, Colorado and Calf.
Asked by jennywren - Tue Mar 11 19:40:19 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Zion and Bryce Canyon are worth going to, along with Rocky Mountain National Park (downside: lots and lots of people). Lassen NP in Cali is great, and the hike to the top is really nice. Personally, I wouldn't spend too much time in the national parks. They are definitely gorgeous, but they are often very crowded, unless you hike far away from the parking lots. In Colorado, for instance, there are other parts of the state that are just as nice as RMNP, but with hardly any people. Utah and other places are the same way. If you don't mind tourists, then go for the NPs...personally, I would rather have the place to myself.

How are parks considered to be National Parks?
Q. I was wondering, there are some parks that are State Parks and there are some that are National Parks. How does the government decides which ones are which? Since different people own the different parks, like tkahrs12122 said, and since all of the parks are in a state/states, how does the federal government own that particular park?
Asked by K2 - Tue Jul 22 22:31:02 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The federal government agrees to take over certain lands if it feels worthy of designating those spots as a national park or monument. The states really don't mind handing the land over, since the parks probably are a money-loser and it's good to have someone else pay for it (and indeed will probably upgrade the facilities after taking it over). Don't forget that the federal government already owns bunches of land across the country, particularly in the West. Nevada has a very large percentage of land owned by the federal government. And some new national parks are a mere upgrade from national monument status.

Ontario Provincial Parks, How do I tell the difference between Premium, Medium and Low campsites?
Q. Heading with family around the lakes West, where can I find out the cost of camping in the parks. More specifically, what class are the parks? If you are camping and pay for a site, do you also have to pay for day use as well? Thanks
Asked by Elantrawag - Mon Jul 6 21:57:14 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. As I've always seen it, premium is near or on the water or near or on what ever major attraction there may be and it also has water and hydro hookups. Medium is within walking distance and most likely has water and hydro hookups. Low is normally a bulk or overflow area, flat with no trees and no services.

Q. My parents are approaching their 40th anniversary, and they've always wanted to go on a train tour of the big National Parks out West. A. Grand Tetons and Yellowstone are so close together you could almost count them as one! Grand Canyon, of course And, while you're in the area: Painted Desert/Petrified Forest (again, almost one park). And you can't miss Yosemite! Personally, I live nearest to Rocky Mountain and Mesa Verde, which are also gorgeous in their own right!

Why do people think dog parks are a good idea?
Q. Personally, I think dog parks are a horrible idea. Many dogs, mostly small and elderly dogs have been killed at dog parks. Dogs in dog parks get into fights over rank issues. I don't know all the dogs at a dog park, so I don't know if they are aggressive, infested with parasites, or sick. I protect my dog and will not expose her to strange dogs in an environment such as a dog park. So, why do so many people think dog parks are a good place to bring their dogs?
Asked by Ingrid H - Sat May 3 17:50:21 2008 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Dogs are naturally social animals.. unfortunately, many people use the dog park as their sole source of exercise.. and bring unstable dogs to the park. My dogs listen well and play well with others.. but if there's a rowdy dog there, I have to be sure to keep my 3 away from him, and I'll even (TRY) to help out the owner of the other dog and tell them what's wrong with the way they're handling their dog. As far as parasites and diseases.. my 3 are on flea preventative, and interceptor.. and are UTD on their shots.. so there's very little to worry about. Sarcoptic mange is about the only worry I have.. and it's pretty obvious on a dog. Still, I only go to the dog park on slow days/times, and make sure I keep an eye on all of my dogs… [cont.]

What average yearly income do national parks make?
Q. I have an assignment about creating a national park, complete with estimating how much it will make in a year, and I could not find anything about the yearly income for any national parks. I just need either an average (if you can find it) of income from a few parks, or if you can't find that, an amount from a few different parks so I can estimate on my own how much the national park will make. Answer fast please!
Asked by pluckyducky28 - Tue Apr 20 13:58:58 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You will find that national parks like everything else owned by the government really is not intended to make any money. The national park is for the enjoyment of the general public and any losses over and above what they collect in admission fees is cover by the federal budget. National parks are run by the Department of the Interior.

Q. I live near Six Flags: Great America (Chicago), but will be stopping at Six Flags: Kentucky Kingdom on vacation. If I buy a season pass I can use it at any of 15 parks. I'm wondering why a season pass is $90 if I choose SF:GA as my home park, but it is only $55 if I choose SF:KK as my home park. Is there a difference in the coupons included or something, or is it just a regional price difference. I'd appreciate any help from a SF employee, or someone who has bought the passes.

A. The prices differ from park to park due to attractions at the park. Six Flags Great America has Hurricane Harbor included in the price of your season pass. Not saying Kentucky Kingdom isnt a nice park, but there is a 5 coaster difference between parks and a big difference in quality. Also the incident with Superman Tower of Power doesnt help the parks popularity. Yes there is a difference of coupons between parks.(Coupon books are only good at the park of your season pass purchasing)

Which parks in the WDW area have good rollercoasters?
Q. I'm visiting Disney World in a couple weeks and have the opportunity to visit several of the theme parks nearby. I am all about high-intensity rollercoasters and thrill rides and was wondering which parks have a good number of "scary" rides? I am definitely going to Universal and Magic Kingdom and will probably go to 2 or 3 other parks. I am open to the water park suggestions as well.

A. My favorite coaster in Disney is Rockin' Roller coaster featuring Aerosmith music at Hollywood Studios. Seaworld has one coaster Kracken that is pretty wild (lots of twists and loops) and they're opening a new one soon, but I'm not sure when. Seaworld also has a water ride that is like a small coaster and lots of fun. If you want to do coasters at SeaWorld, I recommend going early and doing the rides first, then the lines won't be so long. Do the shows later, because those rarely fill up. Also, Islands of Adventure has quite a few roller coasters. Each island centers around a theme roller coaster (I believe there are 5 islands). Have fun!
