Where can I buy a yokie in the central Texas area?
Q. My mom said the only way I'm aloud to get a dog if it is only gonna grow to be aboout 2-3 pounds and a female.(She's really picky about pets) And I'm hoping to find a yorkie, but other small kinds are fine too. It doesn't matter what price either. I have looked everywhere online and I still can't find one anywhere! Please help! Thanks!

A. be very careful when purchasing a yorkie there are some breeders that will say "teacup" and in other words they will be tiny but with tons of health issues... why not a standard yorkie? they are only 7lbs at most -- is 7lbs too much???

What Is the cost per square foot for building a house in Central Texas?
Q. We are planning on building a house and i just need an estamate for how much it will cost per square foot? We have our own land we just need to build the house on it! If yall could help me out that would be great! THANKSS!!
Asked by Cjack - Sun Aug 12 23:03:23 2007 - Renting & Real Estate - 2 Answers - Comments

A. presuming the land is not a component of your cost analysis, builders will charge you from $40 a foot to 300 a foot, depending on the type of home and sq footage and "goodies" wanted. Make sure the contractor is licensed with your state and never give a deposit direct; put it into escrow! Also, in your building contract, state a finish date and include a bonus for each day finished early and a PENALTY for each day late. 85% of casual contractors will not sign such a contract but top quality ones will.

Why is south central texas such a racist place to live?
Q. I've lived in many states (admittedly not too many in the south), but I've found the hill country of texas to be the most vile, uneducated, racist place I've ever been. Is there something inherently different in that part of the country, apart from inbreeding, ignorance and stupidity that fosters a culture of hate? I've only seen the results, but I don't know the cause. If you can enlighten me as to why, I'd certainly appreciate it.

A. "Vile, uneducated, racist place" with "inbreeding, ignorance and stupidity"? No wonder they hate you, with that sort of attitude. It's not the good people of Texas that are racist, it's you that have the bad attitude.

A. You should look at both websites to determine what the coverage is for both carriers. If you still have questions you can call your local store because they will definitely know which areas are dead zones. consumer reports released their survey comparing services nationwide. Here is the link; You should also be aware that Verizon is in negotiations to buy out Alltel, but this will take some time. Here is a link to an article:

What is the best tree to plant in front yard in Central Texas?
Q. This tree as my main tree for shade and for beauty. I've considered a Maple Oak, but not sure that is the best choice? Please help tree lovers!
Asked by - Thu Nov 10 14:39:42 2011 - Garden & Landscape - 7 Answers - Comments

A. You have a few options. Pecans are great, affordable, grow huge, drought tolerant, and produce fruit if you get a female. Unless you hate pecans, this is a wise option. Live oak - boring, but effective. Persimmon - slow growers and they don't get too big, but they have excellent shade and fruit. Mexican sycamore - different and large; good shade This link should be very helpful in deciding.

What is the name for this kind of spider in central Texas?
Q. We found two giant spiders outside our home in central Texas this week. They look like they have a smiley face on their butt just like this : ) they're kinda hairy too. Any help in identifying these would be great so we know what precautions to take when we see them. Thanks!
Asked by Micaela S - Fri Aug 6 01:41:26 2010 - Zoology - 3 Answers - Comments

A. Well, it would help if you gave us some information on colors and patterns other than the 'smiley face'; whether they were associated with a web or just running around on the ground, and what the legs looked like. Of course, Lucy may be right, in which case your problem is solved.

Q. I know that granite is native to central texas but am wondering what other stone is native to the area.
Asked by gobzgirl - Fri Aug 17 22:08:02 2007 - Earth Sciences & Geology - 1 Answers - Comments

A. Cretaceous shale and Iimestone outcrops--all of Central Texas use to be under a vast inland sea. It's very Texas chic nowadays to build homes of "Austin [lime]stone"; what's more, most houses in Central Texas don't have basements simply because it's too difficult and expensive to dig a deep enough foundation--hence the concrete slabs.

Why is North and Central Texas weather so HOT and DRY?
Q. I've lived in North Texas all my life (Dallas, Decatur, and Wichita Falls) and I've always wondered why Texas has such warm and dry weather (even in winter). Why isn't the weather more wet and seasonal?
Asked by Jordan M - Tue Mar 24 23:39:20 2009 - Weather - 2 Answers - Comments

A. Why is it so hot? Texas receives direct sunlight more so than other parts of the country causing superfluous heating. North Texas is usually subjected to winds from the West moving to the East which usually is very dry and provides little moisture during the hottest times of the year. Also, high pressure exasperates the heat during July and August making 115 degree heat possible. Where as temperatures in other parts of the state such as Houston are moderated by the Gulf of Mexico and you will rarely see high temperatures above 95 degrees in July and August.

A. Go to your local farm center (like a TSC) and ask around, that's how we get things done here. We get lots of things done right and cheap that way. Most times it's a farmer, that already has the equipment and the expertise to get it done. Plus they usually have contacts for the accessory's, that may be related to your project, at a good price.

Can you grow an avocado in central/ south Texas?
Q. I was wondering because My family loves fresh fruits and veggies and stuff. We have a lime tree, tomato plant, mint shrubs, and chili peppers! We would like to grow avocados, but don't know if our climate is right. Can you grow them in Central/ south texas? I know how to plant them and get the roots started and all from sticking tooth picks in the sides, and let it rest on the edge of a cup filled with water.
Asked by Simple Little Ways - Thu Nov 13 19:12:38 2008 - Garden & Landscape - 2 Answers - Comments

A. Most of the avocados you get from the stores will not survive the winters in the San Antonio, TX area. If you have access to a greenhouse you can keep them alive long enough to fruit. My nursery is in the process of getting a variety that is freeze tolerant in this area. You need to plant them in groupings of 3 for best results, because you need a male and female tree.

A. I would guess around $1,800 for a 500 sq. ft driveway . I live in North Texas and paid around $2.75 per sq. ft for finished concrete, but we got a small discount because we poured quite a bit .

A. the government has taken over this business, if you want to make a small amount of money, id suggest growing flowers or fruit. i dont know about texas, im in ohio, i grow things that dont grow naturally here , so the profit is worth the time invested. id go to your local garden center and see what sells for more money in your area. but veggies, no profit there. i grow bleeding hearts and angel trumpets for profit. and even though bleeding hearts grow here, there still expensive.

A. Yes! We have a tool online called a Transfer Equivalency Table and you can see which classes other students have transferred in before. If a class that you have taken is not listed it does not mean that you wont get credit for it, it just hasn't been transferred before and will be evaluated when you send in your transcript. Transfer Equivalency Table - https://webopus.fortlewis.edu/pls/banner/hwzkxfer.p_selstate Or the long way- www.fortlewis.edu - then click Prospective Students at the Top - then Transfer in the middle of the page - scroll to Transfer Credit Guidelines and FLC Catalog - then click the first link Transfer Equivalency Table - choose Texas - choose Central Texas College. I am the admission representative for Texas if you… [cont.]
